Compare the2025 Chevrolet Silverado EVVS 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup

Both the Silverado EV and Hummer EV Pickup have Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but the Silverado EV has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Hummer EV Pickup’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Silverado EV and the Hummer EV Pickup have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, available front parking sensors and driver alert monitors.

There are over 73 percent more Chevrolet dealers than there are GMC dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Silverado EV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than GMC vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 41 more problems per 100 vehicles, GMC is ranked 20th, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 32 more problems per 100 vehicles, GMC is ranked 18th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 4 places higher in reliability than GMC.

The Silverado EV RST’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Hummer EV Pickup’s 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Silverado EV RST has standard 24-inch wheels. The Hummer EV Pickup’s largest wheels are only 22-inches.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Silverado EV’s wheelbase is 10.1 inches longer than on the Hummer EV Pickup (145.7 inches vs. 135.6 inches).

The Silverado EV RST handles at .73 G’s, while the Hummer EV Pickup 3X pulls only .72 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Silverado EV has 1.5 inches more front hip room, 1 inch more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear headroom, 5.4 inches more rear legroom and 1.2 inches more rear hip room than the Hummer EV Pickup.

The Silverado EV has a much larger cargo box than the Hummer EV Regular Cab shortbed (57.7 vs. 36.7 cubic feet).

The Hummer EV Pickup’s spare tire is stored in the cargo area, where it diminishes the useable cargo capacity and interferes with loading and unloading. The Silverado EV’s spare is out of the way underneath.

The Chevrolet Silverado EV offers an optional midgate with a removable rear window that allows the front of the cargo box to be folded down in order to extend the length of the cargo box to allow it to safely carry longer cargo. The GMC Hummer EV Pickup doesn't offer a way to extend the cargo box into the rear seat.

Maximum trailer towing in the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is limited to 12000 pounds. The Silverado EV offers up to a 12500 lbs. towing capacity.

While the Hummer EV Pickup 3X can only tow 8500, any Silverado EV can tow a minimum of 10,000 pounds.

The Silverado EV has a much higher optional payload capacity than the Hummer EV Pickup (1750 vs. 1300 lbs.).

The Silverado EV (except Work Truck) offers an available heads-up display that projects speed, warning, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Hummer EV Pickup doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Silverado EV RST’s front power windows both open or close with one touch of the switches. The Hummer EV Pickup’s power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.
