The Chevrolet Blazer EV has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Chevrolet Blazer EV achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Genesis Electrified GV70 has not been tested.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV comes with a standard HD Surround Vision and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Genesis Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the Blazer EV and the Electrified GV70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available front parking sensors and driver alert monitors.

There are over 13 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Genesis dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Blazer EV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Genesis vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 5 more problems per 100 vehicles, Genesis is rated lower.

Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Genesis is rated below average.

The Blazer EV SS’ optional electric motors produces 132 more horsepower (615 vs. 483) and 134 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 516) than the Electrified GV70’s electric motors.

As tested in Car and Driver the Blazer EV SS electric motors is faster than the Genesis Electrified GV70:

On the EPA test cycle the Blazer EV gets better mileage than the Electrified GV70 Advanced/Prestige (102 city/86 hwy vs. 96 city/80 hwy MPGe).

For better traction, the Blazer EV has larger standard tires than the Electrified GV70 (255/60R19 vs. 235/55R19). The Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Electrified GV70 (275/45R21 vs. 265/45R20).

The Blazer EV’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Electrified GV70 AWD Advanced/Prestige’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Blazer EV offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Electrified GV70’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Genesis Electrified GV70 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 8.6 inches longer than on the Electrified GV70 (121.8 inches vs. 113.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Blazer EV is 1.2 inches wider in the front and .7 inches wider in the rear than on the Electrified GV70.

The Blazer EV SS handles at .89 G’s, while the Electrified GV70 Prestige pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the Blazer EV SS has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Electrified GV70 (7.5 vs. 6.9 inches), allowing the Blazer EV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Blazer EV’s minimum ground clearance is 1 inch higher than on the Electrified GV70 (7.9 vs. 6.9 inches).

The Blazer EV has 2.3 inches more front headroom, 2.9 inches more front legroom, 1.3 inches more front hip room, 2.3 inches more rear legroom, .3 inches more rear hip room and 1.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the Electrified GV70.

The Blazer EV has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Electrified GV70 with its rear seat folded (59.1 vs. 56.5 cubic feet).

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Blazer EV uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Blazer EV is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Motor Trend performed a comparison test in its January 2024 issue and the Chevrolet Blazer EV RS eAWD won out over the Genesis Electrified GV70 Prestige.

Motor Trend selected the Blazer EV as their 2024 Sport Utility of the Year. The Electrified GV70 was Sport Utility of the Year in 2022.

The Chevrolet Blazer outsold the Genesis GV70 by almost three to one during 2024.
