The Chevrolet Blazer EV has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The Blazer EV’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Chevrolet Blazer EV achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Jeep Wagoneer S has not been tested.

Full-time four-wheel drive is available on the Blazer EV. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the Wagoneer S.

Both the Blazer EV and Wagoneer S have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Blazer EV has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Wagoneer S’ Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 8 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jeep is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Jeep is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 3 places higher in reliability than Jeep.

The Blazer EV SS’ optional electric motors produces 15 more horsepower (615 vs. 600) and 33 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 617) than the Wagoneer S’ optional electric motors.

For better traction, the Blazer EV has larger standard tires than the Wagoneer S (255/60R19 vs. 235/50R20). The Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Wagoneer S (275/45R21 vs. 235/50R20).

The Blazer EV’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Wagoneer S’ 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Blazer EV offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Wagoneer S’ largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Jeep Wagoneer S only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 8.8 inches longer than on the Wagoneer S (121.8 inches vs. 113 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Blazer EV is 1.5 inches wider in the front and 1.4 inches wider in the rear than on the Wagoneer S.

The Blazer EV SS handles at .89 G’s, while the Wagoneer S Limited 4dr Sport Utility pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the Blazer EV SS has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Wagoneer S (7.5 vs. 6.4 inches), allowing the Blazer EV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Blazer EV’s minimum ground clearance is 1.5 inches higher than on the Wagoneer S (7.9 vs. 6.4 inches).

The Chevrolet Blazer EV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 650 pounds less than the Jeep Wagoneer S.

The Blazer EV has 2.9 inches more front headroom, 2.9 inches more front legroom, 2 inches more front hip room, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room, .7 inches more rear headroom, .9 inches more rear legroom and .7 inches more rear shoulder room than the Wagoneer S.

The Blazer EV is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Wagoneer S doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Motor Trend selected the Blazer EV as their 2024 Sport Utility of the Year. The Wagoneer S has never been chosen.
